I was able to pay tribute to the most impactful and heartwarming kdrama of the decade where it shows the passing of time and teaches the importance of appreciating parents and the sacrifices they had to face in order to be who we are now. Even though it touches other themes like the role of women in Jeju in the 50s & 60s I wanted to represent the history of our female lead Oh Aesun who didn’t give up halfway through and lived an extraordinary life in her own way, emphasizing the relationship of Aesun & Gwansik, who never left her side.
