project intent
Korea first came into my life through dramas, food, and images on screen. Before visiting Korea, I knew it through Winter Sonata, Autumn in My Heart, kimchi, and kimbap.
After visiting Korea twice, I discovered that Korea was more than what I had seen on television. Modern cities and technology existed alongside hanok, hanbok, traditional villages, and cultural traditions.
My most unforgettable K-Culture moment happened on a winter day in Seoul, when the temperature was 0°C. I shared fried chicken and beer with Korean friends I had first met online. At the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, I also became absorbed in the sound of a Korean musician playing the saenghwang, a traditional Korean mouth organ. These moments showed me that K-Culture was something I could feel through people, music, history, and everyday life.
