Hi, everyone~
I’m Polina, design student and freelance illustrator. I am deeply interested in modern and traditional Korean culture, especially traditional Minhwa 민화 painting.
🌺Check my work:
"Chaekgeori - Books and Things of Modern and Traditional Korean Culture"
This work is inspired by traditional Korean painting 민화 - 책거리 and the theme of books on a shelf, presented with a modern interpretation.

You can see elements from various districts, from Seoul to Jeju, represented by hallabong mandarins and Hareubang. Namsan tower and Gyeongbokgung Palace, books and small sculpture of Sejong the Great, It combines traditional instruments like Samunori (사물놀이), Gayageum (가야금), mugunghwa flower (무궁화), male Gat hat (갓) and Talchum (탈춤) masks with modern K-pop music, illustrated by light sticks and CDs and famous Korean soju and banana milk as modern symbols.
It also incorporates themes from traditional Minhwa painting. Each shelf conveys the multifaceted nature of Korean culture and things, both modern and traditional.
I hope this illustration inspires an appreciation for the beauty of Korean traditional Minhwa painting and art, extending beyond K-pop culture to embrace the richness of its heritage.
I hope you enjoy 😊 💖
This is so cute 🥰
